The new Frsky ACCESS system bind procedure is slightly different and confusing for new comers. In this post I will explain the steps on how to register and bind receivers to your ACCESS transmitter.

With the older ACCST protocol, binding is just binding. But with ACCESS, you now have to first register the receiver before binding.
First thing first, ensure your radio is set to ACCESS mode.
Enter “Model Setup” on the radio, scroll down to “Internal RF”, in “Mode”, select “ACCESS”
Next decide how many channels you want to use.
ACCESS supports up to 24 channels, but lower number of channel has less latency. For flying mini quads, generally 8 channels are more than enough and gives you the least latency.
Just leave it at 01 unless you know what you are doing.
You don’t normally have to worry about this. When you create a new model, the system will assign a receiver number automatically, but it can be changed easily too.
Receiver number is from 00 to 63, but 00 is not recommended by Frsky for some reason, so the default is 01 (lowest you should use).
Once the receiver is bound to the Taranis, bind procedure will not need to be repeated again unless the receiver number is changed. In this case, you can either set the receiver number back to the original one, or bind the receiver again.
Next to “Module”, select “Register”.
Now hold down the F/S button (bind button) on your receiver, then power it on.
Your receiver name should appear in “RX Name” on the screen.
Press the “Enter” key on the radio to complete the registration process, followed by a message “Registration OK”. You can now power down the receiver.
You can change UID, but only change it when you are using multiple receivers. Normally you can just leave it at default.
Note that once you’ve registered a receiver, you don’t normally have to do it ever again even after updating its firmware unless you want it to work with a different radio. This is one of the cool features of the ACCESS protocol.
If you have problem registering receiver, make sure both your receiver and internal RF module have the latest firmware. Here are the tutorials:
Next to “Receiver 1”, select “Bind”.
Now power your receiver, the name should appear on the screen. Select this receiver to complete the process and the system will confirm with message “Bind successful”. You do no need to press the “F/S” button to bind in ACCESS mode.
Frsky calls it “Automatic Binding” as you do not need to touch the receiver during binding as long as the receiver is previously registered.
There are four failsafe options. For mini quad we recommend setting it to “No Pulse”.
Upon selecting a new failsafe option, please wait at least 9 seconds for failsafe to take effect.
Not necessary to change anything, but I will cover these options in the future…
previous postHey im new Quads been doing fixed wings forever I have a darwin 129. finally got it bound up with the help of the website but it just beeps at me. any idea what the problem could be? . the RX seems to be bound now i have a solid blue and red its an rsxr the qx7 access tx says the bind was a success. it was a pnp drone from pyro so i assumed it would have been set up from the factory?
Jeanne Ladner 8th April 2022 - 8:50 pmI am a teacher setting up 7 transmitters for 21 drones. I have 3 sections with 7 tables. So I set each transmitter name to 1s1,1s2, and 1s3…2s1… meaning table1 section1, table 1 section 2, and table 1 section 3 (sections are at different times of day). I was able to register and bind but ran across the Note that the UID should be changed, of course now that I’ve gone through all 20. One thing I did as I was selecting the section where you see RECEIVER 1 BND in the setup menu, I chose to bind to 1 for section 1, RECEIVER 2 for section 2, and RECEIVER 3 for section 3. I am not sure it matters but thought it would help better define the model set up. So 3 questions, do you think that setting the RECIEVER BIND was ok to do or should I have kept them all at RECEIVER 1. And secondly, I am not sure what the UID does but should I give each UID a number 1 to 20? Thirdly, Do I need to change the Rx Name or is it ok to leave it as RXSR for all of them? I realize this is most likely a unique set of circumstances and any thoughts about running this set up would be great. I have been flying drones in class for awhile but using CC3D’s and old openpilot with turnigy transmitters, so moving into new technology, hopefully all will be well. I apologize if information is missing that would be helpful for answering my questions.
I am using the Frsky Taranis x9 lite with RXSR
I have Radio Transmitter “FrSky Taranis Q X7 Access 2.4GHz 24CH Mode2 Transmitter with R9M 2019 Long Range Module” and receiver “FrSky R9 SX ACCESS OTA 6/16CH PWM/SBUS Long Range Enhanced RC Receiver Support S.Port/F.Port for RC Drone – 915MHZ”
I am not able to bind them, I could register Module successfully, but when I click on Receiver1 Bind, then it shows message Waiting for RX. and this messages goes forever, I tried powering off and on Receiver, powering on receiver with bind button pressed, nothing helped me
